Verizon Wireless Nears 70% IPv6, AT&T Crosses 50%, More…

The latest World IPv6 Launch measurements are out for May 15 and as my colleague Mat Ford explains in a blog post, there’s a lot of great momentum happening! My attention was drawn to the fact that Verizon Wireless is at 69.1%… at their current rate they should cross over 70% by next month:

As Mat noted, AT&T broke through the 50% IPv6 mark this month and has the kind of growth chart you love to see:

Looking at the May measurements, T-Mobile USA also continues their solid growth as do Comcast, Time Warner Cable and Telefonica del Peru.

Mat’s post also dives into some of the newer entrants such as Saudi Arabia’s Saudi Telecom Company.

All around great news to see!  IPv6 deployment is happening! :-)

Watch Live Today – 2nd Annual InterPlanetary Networking Conference

How do we extend the Internet to outer space?  How do we build a truly "interplanetary" Internet?  Today, Monday, May 18, 2015, this topic is being discussed at the 2nd Annual InterPlanetary Networking Conference in Washington, DC, where the focus is on "Delay & Disruption Tolerant Networking (DTN)". Participants include Vint Cerf and teams from NASA, Boeing, the Jet Propulsion Lab (JPL) and others involved with space exploration.

The People of Nepal Need Our Help

Updated: 15 May 2015

On 25 April a powerful 7.8 earthquake devastated the country of Nepal. Two weeks after the initial quake, there are more reports of another major earthquake hitting near the town of Namche Bazar, near Mount Everest.

All our Chapter members have reported that they are safe.

These earthquakes already claimed the lives of more than 5 000 people, injured thousands more and left tens of thousands of people without homes and supplies.

The Internet Society has a Chapter in Nepal and has been working on Internet related projects in the region since 2007.

Right now, humanitarian and aid organizations need your help to help serve areas affected by the earthquake.
